With a ton of Christmas and holiday parties staring back at me from the calendar, I mentally take stock of my wardrobe to see which outfits are party appropriate.
My focus of late has been Christmas shopping and trying desperately to save for my beloved Chanel bag, so I’m attempting to not hit the stores to buy all the pretty cocktail dresses calling my name softly, making my credit card quiver in my wallet.

So, as I run screaming from the mall, I decide to shop my overstuffed closet.
Now – I won’t lie, I have a bunch of nice dresses and cute outfits to wear, and making your existing clothes look fresh is simply a matter of how you style and accessorize them. Since I have a bunch of office holiday parties coming up, cocktail dresses aren’t really appropriate…especially as I will be in the same company as the small few who wear their pyjamas to work. That’s when my collection of statement necklaces catches my eye.
Statement necklaces are probably the best way to “zhuzh” up an outfit. Bold, gorgeous necklaces add some sparkle and quickly elevate a dress, casual shirt, sweater or t-shirt. Throw a tuxedo blazer over your work outfit and BAM! Ready to mingle with Accounts Payable.
Here are a few examples of statement necklaces I regularly reach for to take my outfits from “hmmmm..meh” to great:

Outfit Details:
- Vintage cashmere sweater, AMH Style (similar here)
- Maria Starless jeans, J Brand (similar here)
- Leather moto jacket, Danier Leather
- Chunky link bracelet, Joe Fresh (available in store only, similar here)
- Peter Pan pearl collar necklace, AMH Style (similar here)
- Large pearl necklace, Joe Fresh (similar here)
Here are some additional statement necklace options that I love:

How do you add some sass to your outfits? Going all out for the holidays? If so, let me know of your plans in the comments!

Thank you, Dana! When I get frustrated with shopping and not finding anything, I try to restyle my tried and true looks. Usually works. Thanks for reading! xo

Ps my fashion TV show can now be watched online. Have a look when you have a moment and let me know what you think. Would be great to have your opinion: https://myfashionslashlife.wordpress.com/2015/12/14/watch-my-silverbird-tv-fashion-special-with-biki-john-part-1/
Love this inspiration! I am definitely lacking in the accessories department and am always envious of girls with necklaces that stand out and simply make their outfit.

Hey Kyah! Glad I could inspire a little bit! While I love statement necklaces, I feel some of them have gotten out of hand! Some of them are so ginormous, your head really does look like it’s being served up on a silver platter! LOL! Thanks for reading, luv! xoxox
I ALWAYS rely on a great statement necklace to instantly transition my outfits from drab to fab! Well not exactly drab haha BUT whenever I incorporate a statement necklace into a fairly understated look; I feel a million bucks! Absolutely love the styles you are flaunting up above and that bad boy from Zara I actually own 🙂 ALSO. I cannot even begin to express my love for Alexis Bittar and his gorgeous lucite pieces; especially those gorgeous bangles! Let’s just say that when I want to splurge …. I can count on Alexis Bittar pieces to break my bank balance haha. Hope your enjoying your festive season!

Hey Sonam! Omg – I hear you about Alexis Bittar…one of my favourites. We are lucky here in Ottawa. We have a little jewelry store that carries his jewelry and frequently marks down the pieces to awesome prices. They are also carried by Nordstrom (which I think opened in Vancouver). I have quite a few of his pieces and wear them all the time! And I’m loving that Zara necklace – glad you got it! xoxoxo
Haha yes his AH-MAZE-ING pieces are at Nordstrom and it is absolutely wonderful that we do have one in Vancouver now .. saves a girl the burden of driving down to the States to treat herself to some fabulous arm candy 😉

Hey Sonam! His line is at Holts too. This Sept. when I was in Vancouver, I got a large white frosted bangle dotted with rhinestones on sale for $79! So happy! Easily the least expensive item ever sold at Holt Renfrew – lol!
I KNOW! But the selection at Nordstrom is definitely more extensive. His pieces are also available at this beautiful local jewelry chain by the name of Blue Ruby but then again the selection is fairly limited. And HOLY jeeezzz. $79?!?!

Reallllly??? Jeez. It was the opposite in Ottawa. Before Holts closed down, they had a giant selection of Alexis Bittar. Nordstrom’s is smaller now but at least we have somewhere to buy it. Check out http://www.magpie.com too (a local Ottawa jewellery store). They sell his pieces and they go on sale all the time. ?
Love your photos! I use statement necklaces to take my outfit to the next level 🙂
Statement necklaces are my favorite! These are all absolutely amazing. I love the big pearl one. It’s so wonderful!
I think that my wife would agree on hundred percent that a statement necklace is a great way to brighten up any outfit. She has always loved big necklaces and earrings to bring her outfits to life. Her birthday is coming up and I think that she would love all of the necklaces that you have displayed on your site.
